The Anatomy of the Ship: Heavy Cruiser Takao
Anatomy of the Ship: Heavy Cruiser Takao
The "Takao" class cruisers were the largest and most powerful heavy cruisers in Japan's fleet and saw heavy action in the Pacific War. The first vessel launched from the class, "Takao", survived a torpedo attack at the Leyte Gulf, was sunk by explosive charges from a British midget submarine in Singapore Harbour, and after being refloated was scuttled in the Malacca Straits in 1946. This volume is a complete description of the class and its machinery and armaments.
