A study of an extraordinary pair of liners, the "Europa" and the "Breman" who were to have steamed together, side-by-side, on their maiden voyages in 1929. Unfortunately the chaotic situation in Germany following WWI led to the burning and sinking of the "Europa" even before she made her sea trials, setting back her completion by 10 months. Decline in passenger numbers and the build up to WWII doomed their planned dominance and as ships of peace, they never had a chance to shine.
