Even though Holmes and Gleeson did not know how to row, they had dreams of rowing a tiny boat across the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean in the 2005/06 Trans-Atlantic Race. After months of training, they left the Canary Islands to row the 4,800 kilometers course across the Atlantic. Eighty-six days later during which they battled huge seas, violent storms, terrifying capsizes, unbearable thirst, bizarre hallucinations, and sleep deprivation, they arrived at the finish line.
