Nautical Mind :: DVDs :: Adventures :: Ice Blink

  Ice Blink

Ice Blink
Follow David and Jaja and their three children as they sail "Driver", their 33-foot steel sloop, to Iceland, Greenland and Arctic Norway where they encounter new friends, icebergs, and polar bears. The Martins like to think of themselves as a conventional family doing unconventional things. Their personal philosophy that led them to take their children into a life of adventure makes up a large part of this film. TheSailingChannel.com describes it as "a unique glimpse in the rugged individualist mindset of the serious cruising family".

I give this DVD a five star award.
Very well done.

What a disappointment! Promotional information made me think this would be a sailing video. Well, there is very little real video and very little of the DVD is about the sailing. Instead most of this is just a profile of the Martin family with photos and video interviews. The sailing footage seemed to be a few limited clips that were played repeatedly. I feel totally ripped off with this product and would never have bought it if I knew how horrible it was.

I thought it was a wonderfully inspiring program. I really needed it to "kick me" into gear again on my own adventures. Thanks

I did see the docoumentary on KCPT 19. I thought it was really wonderful. Not being a sail or cruise person it was very adventurous , warm good to be alone and discover.

I've seen the program 5 times on my public television station and I've loved every minute! I'm sorry that the reviewer, Julie, was so obsessed with not seeing sailing that she missed the message completely. Truly inspiring.

Great video so far! watching it right now. We are interested to know the nitty gritty details of how they lived. Did they have a lot of money before they started? what about food?

While watching the fantastic video chronicle the lives of the Martin family, I was touched deeply at their devotion to one another. Their children appear to be grounded in what is truly important and I am so encouraged to see the commitment to one another as well.
