Lost Ship SS Waratah: Searching for the Titanic of the South
The SS Waratah set sail from Sydney, Australia, in 1909, bound for England via South Africa--but somewhere between Durban and Cape Town the ship vanished. No trace of her has ever been found. Writer Clive Cussler even mounted a million-dollar search mission, but the mystery endures. P.J. Smith transcribed diaries and researched the wider story of the Waratah in his unique history.

Review Author: jean gaisford
Firstly, P J Smith transcribed her own gt uncles diaries, not Cusslers he had no diaries in connection with the Waratah, in fact they are journals of the searches of men on board the search ships, after the ship had gone missing. Secondly the families coming to England were not coming to a new life, they were visiting relatives as they had already gone to a new life in Australia! I know something about this book as I researched wrote some of it! Your review is misleading!

Jean --
thank you for those corrections. Lost Ship SS Waratah hasn't been published yet (as of 10/1/99) so we based our description on material from the publisher. We've updated our description based on your notes. Thanks again!
