The "Merchant Fleets" series has become a well established source of reference for maritime research. The format of each volume is identical: a chronological company history is followed by an indexed fleet list. The fleet list presents technical data and service career of each ship. Scale profile drawings illustrate most ships. Each book includes an index providing multiple entries for ships that were renamed. Sadly, many of the series are out of print.
