One Ship Too Many
Born in Birmingham in 1921, John Taylor went to sea via Gravesend Sea School in 1939, and saw service in tramp cargo vessels until the World War II’s end. He attended Nellist Nautical School, earned his Master's Certificate in 1955, and gained his first command in 1969. From there Taylor joined the Rowbothams, sailing their coasters until he finally "swallowed the anchor" in 1983. This is his autobiography.
