P&A Campbell Steamers: The Victorian Era
Although indelibly linked to the Bristol Channel, the firm P&A Campbell was founded by two Scottish brothers and originated on the Clyde. It was in the 1960s that the operation was transferred to the South West of England, where it dominated steamer travel on the Bristol Channel and South Wales. From the Hotwells Basin in the ports of Cardiff, Penarth and Barry, to the north Devon coast, Lundy Island and Somerset piers, the steamers of Campbell's were a regular sight. Many thousands made the trip down the water every week. This is the definitive history of the early P&A Campbell years.
