The ships of the high-latitude explorers play a big part in their voyages, sometimes becoming more famous than the captains or explorers they transported. Some of the ship names that have earned a place in history include Endurance, Erebus, Terror, Resolute, Karluk, Baymaud, Nascopie, Bear, St. Roch, Baychimo, Paramore, Eliza Scott and Fram. And among the explorers they carried are Shackleton, Franklin, Peary, Greely, Scott, Amundsen, McClure, Cook, and Larsen, to name a few.
