Jared Kane is a BC fisherman whose life is plagued by bad luck and blackout drinking. His chance for redemption arrives in the form of Arrow, a 46-foot wooden sailboat. Kane plans a voyage from Vancouver to California and beyond with a friend from prison, Danny MacLean. Before they set off, Danny is attacked and left for dead, and Jared is forced to flee aboard Arrow with the would-be killers in pursuit. He heads south–ill-prepared, poorly provisioned, and with a less than ideal crew: a silent old man and an injured friend strapped into his bunk.
