Adventurous Use of the Sea
by Murphy, Timothy
CAD $51.95
Launched in 1922 by a small group of sailors gathered in Cape Breton, the Cruising Club of America (CCA) is an amateur, invitational sailing club with no fixed address. Rather, its nine "stations" are scattered across the US — plus two more in Bermuda and Canada (Bras d’Or) — and its members are sailing the seas of the world. The CCA describes itself as "a collection of passionate, seriously accomplished, ocean sailors making adventurous use of the sea." To celebrate its centennial year, nautical journalist Tim Murphy and former CCA commmodore Sheila McCurdy profile, in word and photograph, a few of the CCA’s many famous members. Chapters feature details about the boats and voyages of, for example, Bill Nutting, Olin Stephens, Jeanne Socrates, Skip Novak, John Alden, Carleton Mitchell, Lin and Larry Pardey, and others.
