Gib’s Odyssey: A Tale of Faith and Hope on the Intracoastal Waterway
by Bradley, Walter G.
This is the story of Gib Peters–diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease–and the varied adventures of his six-month solo voyage in the Ka-Ching along the Intracoastal Waterway from Key West to New York and back. His experiences ran the gamut from Navy and Coast Guard Zodiacs rushing to stop him from entering a naval bombardment zone to searching for his two AWOL kittens–not to mention coping with levels of paralysis that eventually left him steering the boat with his feet and unable to speak. The author is the neurologist who treated Peters, but the story is told in Peters’ own voice through his e-mails and articles.
