Arctic Ambitions: Captain Cook and the Northwest Passage
by Barnett, James K. & Nicandri David L., ed.
This is a stunning hardcover book, full of high quality photos and illustrations. The book examines James Cook’s life, but focuses on his third voyage and his attempts at finding the North-West Passage. A collaborative effort between the Anchorage Museum, the Cook Inlet Historical Society, and the Washington State History Museum, it is a well written discussion of a complex topic. It is also a dazzling display of the strength of museum holdings around the world, including the National Maritime Museum in the United Kingdom.
