The Sea Was in Their Blood
by Casey, Quentin
In February 2013, despite the forecasts of a huge storm, the crew of the 12-metre fishing boat "Miss Ally"–five men from Cape Sable Island and Woods Harbour–decided to stay at sea to retrieve their fishing gear. Caught out when the weather hit, the "Miss Ally" capsized at night. The storm’s violence in the following hours prevented all rescue attempts. Casey combines interviews from Coast Guard and community members in this narrative about the terrible events.
