The Rules in Practice 2013-2016

 

 

 

If you’ve seen our home page, you know we’ve got the new 2013- 2016 Racing Rules. There are quite a few updates: more than half the rules have changes or amendments. Here’s a rundown of our post popular rule-related books:

 

CYA Racing Rules 2013The CYA Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016 are the ISAF rules including “Exceptions to Rules” specific to Canadian racers. This is just the straight legalese, without any interpretation or illustration. The 5 by 7 inch format slips easily into large pockets.

  

 

Paul Elvstrom

Paul Elvstrom Explains the Racing Rules of Sailing: 2013-2016 Rules, Plastic boats handy for use in study or protests, and signal flags on the back cover for reference on the race course in a plastic cover set this apart from others. A favourite since 1965 details situations likely to be met with in a race and explained with helpful ‘birds eye’ line drawings and cross-referenced to the particular rule.

 

Racing Rules Companion

Racing Rules Companion: 2013-2016 perfect for the boat, pocket sized and waterproof summarizes start and right-of-way rules.

 

 

Bryan Willis

Rules in Practice: 2013-2016 by Willis is very popular with our customers. Willis analyzes key situations that occur repeatedly on the race course from the viewpoint of different helmsmen, summarizing what each may, must, or cannot do. Extremely well illustrated throughout.

 

 

Dave Perry

Understanding the Racing Rules of Sailing through 2016, Perry is clear, concise writes in an easy- to- follow, conversational style and answers the commonly asked questions based on 25 years plus of experience. The authorative book is used extensively and favoured by judges and race officals in our experience. Brad Dellenbaugh’s diagrams and captions add welcome humor and aid in understanding.

 

RulesMaster

Guide to the Racing Rules: 2013-2016, produced by Ross Learning out of Australia is an interactive CD- Rom for all ages and levels of experience. Great way to learn the new rules.

 

 

 

The Rules Book, pocket sized, by Eric Twiname is now written by Bryan Willis who you maybe familiar with from his excellent Rules in Practice. Following Twiname’s unique style, Willis  covers the rules by race situation with clear diagrams showing which boat is in the right or wrong.
